Sample Tour 1: In The Footsteps of Luther
(including Krakow & Prague)

Day 1: Depart the USA

Day 2: USA- Krakow

   Arrive at Balice Airport. Meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit the beautiful Krakow city center. See the Cloth Hall, St. Mary's Basilica, Central Square and Wawel Castle.

Day 3: Krakow - Prague

Auschwitz
    Early morning departure to Auschwitz - Nazi concentration camp. We will spend the morning touring the Auschwitz complex, which has become a symbol of terror, oppression, and genocide.
   After our tour, we continue by bus to Prague.

Day 4: Prague

   Prague, the city of Jan Huss. Our tour will include Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge, Old Town, and the church where Jan Huss preached for change in the church on 100 years before Luther.

Day 5: Prague - Dresden

   A guided tour of Dresden, a city rebuilt. We will see the Zwinger courtyard, Procession of Princes, and the newly rebuilt and inaugurated Frauenkirche.

Day 6: Erfurt - Eisenach

   We will explore 1,260 year old Erfurt which has one of the largest medieval city centers in Germany. Luther studied and lived in the university quarter before his "conversion" on the road during a lighting storm. Your group

will spend the night in Augustinekloster - the Augustinian Monastery where Luther was admitted on July 17, 1505 and ordained as a priest in 1507. (Luther's Prayer when he was ordained)
   We will drive to Eisenach and visit the Bach Museum and St. George's Church where Luther sang in the boys' choir. We'll then ascend and tour Wartburg Castle, where Luther took refuge after being excommunicated by the Pope for not recanting. We will see the room where Luther translated the Bible into German.

Day 7: Eisleben

   It was here that Luther was born in 1483 and spent the last 3 weeks of his life before he died in 1546. We will visit the churches where Luther taught and preached. Return to Wittenberg.

Day 8: Wittenberg - Berlin

    Tour Luther's House - the world's largest Reformation museum. Guided tour of the "Stadtkirche" Wittenberg (St. Peter and Paul's Church where Luther was baptized and preached,) and "Schlosskirche" Wittenberg where Luther nailed the 95 Thesis on the door. Drive to Berlin via Potsdam for a visit to the villa where the partition of Germany was signed.

Day 9: Berlin

    Tour Berlin and explore this fascinating city, including the remains of the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie and the museum complex. In the evening we will gather for our Farewell Dinner as we ready ourselves for our trip home.
